Creative...or is it too much for it?
Singapore MRT Pledge
We,the passengers of MRT,
Poise to be one united kiasu(scared of losing[if you're Singaporean, you should know what does that mean]),
Regardless of pregnant women, elderly and little children,
To chiong(rush) in when the doors open,
So as to achieve seats, sleep and rest.
Do you think it is too much?I don't think so.Just don't take it so seriously.
Bad things about some Singaporeans in MRTs:
.Stand in front of the doors.
.Eating/Drinking[normally secretly] in MRT,once I even saw an Raffles Girl Student eating a sandwich secretly!
.Rush in when the doors open...unless you really need a seat, don't be so selfish! The MRT will go the same time whether you go in sooner or later!
.Pushing him/herself into the MRT during peak hours...the next train is just 3 mins away, not 6!
On stomp,I even saw someone speeding to show off his car at Upp Thomson Road.No that I'm cursing him,but he could lose his life!

" ang mo " can do this?
An outraged STOMPer received these email pictures of a nude man posing in various parts of an HDB estate. STOMPer Pervert Catcher wonders how no one saw this naked person.
In the STOMPer's email dated Aug 23:
"Someone send these disgusting HDB pictures to my email :(
"How come he can go naked no one knows?"

10 years old boy
This boy, who was apparently about 10 years old, was seen exposing his private parts to a group of youths while standing at the window of his flat.
One of the youths, a female STOMPer, Nelly, had masked the boy's pictures and sent to STOMP.
In an email to STOMP at about 9.25pm yesterday (Aug 21), the STOMPer said:
"This was what had happened, it took place just a few hours ago.
"Some of my friends and I decided to play block catching near Potong Pasir so we went to the block.
"But after going there, one of my friends saw something really sick.
"There was a boy, around the age of 10 or 11 years old, wanking openly in his room with his window open wide!
"He knew we were watching him and he still smiled and continued wanking, even when we took pictures of him.
"He was like going 'Yeh, yeh, yeh' damn loudly.
"This is...unacceptable!"
This latest incident is just one of the many rising cases of Singapore youths becoming so rude and offensive.
Many of them have been caught for instance, getting intimate in public.
Other Singapore youths misbehaving:
Students in uniform 'go all the way' in stairwell
Yet another case of teens making out. This time at stairway of Woodlands carpark
Students caught in passionate embrace
JC students kiss 'n' hug on "love train"
Let's have a tight hug, honey...but, meanwhile, our shopping bag can occupy a seat
School kids in uniform kiss and hug passionately on Suntec escalator
Two boys, one girl in school uniform kiss and hug at carpark
Kissing so passionately in public -- the boy's 15 and the girl, only 14

A Tragic Tale!
Day after day, night after night, he perservered. But, unlike his mind, his body started to feel the strain. The heat was just unbearable. He began to hallucinate.
Finally, he laid still, succumbed to his exhaustion. Fond memories from the past kept flashing in his mind. He closed his eyes and smile contentedly.
I managed to snap 2 pictures of him. Click on them to see :)

HISTORY OF KAMPONG GLAM
In Malay, the word "Kampung" means "village or settlement" and "Glam" is the name of a particular tree, which grew in abundance in the area in early Singapore. In the beginning, Kampong Glam was a fishing village situated at the mouth of Rochor River. It became more populated and grew into prominence after the Sultan of Singapore, Hussein Mohammed Shah and the Temenggong signed a treaty with the East India Company in 1819.

In nineteen century, Kampong Glam remains an ethnic district with a strong Malay-Arab influence. It is a place where one will patronise for their Arab-Muslim traditional foodstuff and merchandise. In 1822 "Town Plan", Sir Stamford Raffles allocated Kampong Glam to the Malays, Bugis and Arabs. As trade flourished, Farquhar preferred the business quarter to be centered here at Kampong Glam. Rough justice, robberies, street brawls and stabbings were common.

Tengku Ali built Istana Kampong Glam in 1840 at Sultan Gate. Tengku Ali was only recognised as Sultan of Singapore by the British, in 1855. By 1911, Singapore’s population numbered over 185,000 with nearly three-quarter of those Chinese; men outnumbered women 8:1. Kampong Glam, during that period was swallowed up as a city with vibrant commerce, but lawless attitudes and a money-making fervour where wealth was more admired over scholarship. It had become, as Raffles had predicted, "the emporium and pride of the East".
What we see today in Kampong Glam is a variety of rich heritage passed down from generation to generation. Some of these long enduring traditions are in the form of monuments, trades, cultures and practices. Conservation of places of worship, old school, old dwellings, some of which are still in their original form while others have been refurbished. These rich remains give a hint of the architecture and life style of the early days. Such diverse rich heritage can only come about through a sense of tolerance, sharing and bonding, all encapsulated in the Kampong Glam spirit.

Constantly improving the living standards of its constituents is the main preoccupation of its grassroots leaders. Improving the housing estates that are more than 10 years old is carried out under two schemes. Those more than twenty years old would come under the Main Upgrading Programme. Those between ten and seventeen years old would qualify under the Interim Upgrading Programme, where improvement work is confined to the surrounding area and no work is done inside the individual flat.

Boy, 5, was behind burglary
Officers, in Jirlau, Braila county, were called to investigate the break in after the caretaker found a back window broken.
They found several rooms had been ransacked and initially thought the burglars were searching for petty cash.
But, after talking to staff, they discovered all that was missing was part of the nursery's collection of toys.
Detectives questioned neighbours and two boys, aged five and 13, who live nearby, admitted to the crime.
The younger boy told police he "missed his toys and just couldn't wait till school term starts again in September".
He convinced his older friend to come with him to the kindergarten where they broke in, stuffed two bags with toys and left.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
"I think it's raining," he said to his wife.
"No, that felt more like snow to me," she replied.
"No, I'm sure it was just rain, he said.
" Well, as these things go, they were about to have a major argument about whether it was raining or snowing. Just then they saw a minor communist party official walking toward them.
"Let's not fight about it," the man said, "let's ask Comrade Rudolph whether it's officially raining or snowing."As the official approached, the man said, "Tell us, Comrade Rudolph, is it officially raining or snowing?"
"It's raining, of course," he answered and walked on. But the woman insisted: "I know that felt like snow!"
To which the man quietly replied: "Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!"

Crab-eating Frog
This is the report:
The Crab-eating Frog occurs in a range of habitats including coastal scrub, marshes, disturbed forests and mangroves where it can tolerate brackish water. This species, along with the Blyth's Giant Frog Limnonectes blythii, is favoured for its eating quality and is often farmed for its edible legs.
The patterning on its dorsal surface (see inset) is an aid to identification, as well as the extensive webbing on its hind feet. Some specimens may possess a vertebral stripe.
This frog is found in West Malaysia, Singapore, and possibly southern Thailand.
Sorry I cannot get the picture.
"?"is the word Ido not know.

Happy Birthday Singapore!
Anyway, we must really rejoice this significant day for Singapore has come a long way to become what it is today. I guess when you get older, the less excited you are when it comes to such celebrations. Regardless, enjoy every moment of the National Day spirit while it lasts.
